Farm Shops can be very effective if the smallholding is on a major thoroughfare. Unfortunately most producers are located in inaccessible locations, or where they are on a major thoroughfare access is often an issue.
Websites allow sales to be made to customers in any part of the country. The main problem with this type of selling is the large cost of packaging (to ensure produce remains cold during transport) and delivery costs. Also, many people are not confident about making payments on-line.
